Anna Lin "Chasing 2nd Place by 1 Stroke"... Bouchard 'Leading the Race'
LPGA Tour Q-Series Stage 2 Day 1: 8-Under Par Over 15 Holes, Choi Hye-jin and Titikun Tied for 3rd, Furue Tied for 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Anna Lin (25, Munyoung Group, photo) is smoothly heading to the United States.
On the 10th (Korean time), at the Highland Oaks Golf Club (par 72) in Dothan, Alabama, USA, during the first day of the second round of the LPGA Tour Qualifying (Q) Series (total prize money $150,000), she scored 8 under par over 15 holes and jumped to 2nd place (22 under par). Due to sunset, 14 players could not finish their rounds, while Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (France) is leading with 23 under par. The series is a grueling 8 rounds and 144 holes over the first and second stages.
If she enters the 'top 45', she will earn eligibility to participate in next year's LPGA Tour. Finishing within the top 20 ensures a stable tour life. Anna Lin, a two-time champion on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, started from 3rd place, 5 strokes behind, and collected 9 birdies (1 bogey). Her streaks of three consecutive birdies from holes 3 to 5 and four consecutive birdies from holes 8 to 11 were outstanding. Although she lost a birdie at the 13th hole (par 3) by making a bogey at the 14th hole (par 4), she immediately recovered with a birdie at the 15th hole (par 5).
Roussin-Bouchard added 4 under par over 15 holes to maintain her lead on the leaderboard. She is a promising player who held the No. 1 spot in the amateur world rankings for over half a year. She turned professional last August and drew attention by winning the LET Sweden Skaftoe Open just two weeks after turning pro. Choi Hye-jin (22, Lotte) recorded 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. Along with Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), ranked 18th in the world, they are tied for 3rd place (19 under par), eyeing a comeback.
