Mujugun Re-selected as a Family-Friendly Public Institution

[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 8th that it has been reselected as a family-friendly certified institution by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

According to the county, after going through document and on-site evaluations as well as a family-friendly management satisfaction survey, it recently passed the re-certification review for family-friendly certified institutions, thereby acquiring the qualification as a model public institution for exemplary operation of family-friendly systems until November 2024.

Most notably, this re-certification marks the third consecutive time Muju County has received the qualification as a model family-friendly environment institution.

The ‘Family-Friendly Certification’ is a system granted to companies and institutions that have made efforts to balance work and life for employees, including support for childbirth and child-rearing, flexible work systems, CEO interviews, and fostering a family-friendly workplace culture.

It was introduced in 2008 with the purpose of discovering and certifying institutions and companies that operate family-friendly systems exemplary, thereby creating a workplace culture balanced between work and life.

The certification review is conducted by the Korea Management Certification Institute, which evaluates support for childbirth and child-rearing, flexible work systems, and the creation of a family-friendly workplace culture, after which the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family grants the certification based on the results.

In particular, Muju County has been operating family-friendly systems exemplary since first obtaining the family-friendly certification in 2016.

So far, it has actively encouraged parental leave and maternity leave, implemented flexible work systems for child-rearing, and designated every Wednesday and Friday as ‘Family Love Days’ to boost employee morale and organizational vitality through work-family balance.

Hwang In-hong, the governor of Muju County, said, “Various policies aimed at balancing work and family were recognized, allowing us to be reselected as a family-friendly certified institution,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a healthy organizational culture and a happy workplace where work and family coexist through family-friendly management.”
