The forum was held to share the progress and achievements of the project to promote the successful establishment and nationwide expansion of win-win regional jobs, as well as to award meritorious contributors.
Win-win regional jobs were selected as a national agenda of the Moon Jae-in administration and have been actively promoted since then. Starting with Gwangju in January 2019, a total of nine win-win agreements were signed in eight regions including Miryang, Hoengseong, Busan, Gunsan, Gumi, Sinan, and Daegu. Currently, more than ten other regions are developing new models considering their local conditions. The government emphasized, "In particular, the five regions selected as win-win regional jobs?Gwangju, Miryang·Hoengseong, Gunsan·Busan?have shown visible results, with about 908.1 billion KRW invested and over 1,300 direct jobs created as of October." It added, "Only in these five projects, about 1.85 trillion KRW in investment and 3,900 direct jobs are expected in the future."
Kim Yong-gi, Vice Chairman of the Jobs Committee, said in his welcoming speech, "Win-win regional jobs symbolically represent job-centered national governance, and the fruits such as Casper (Gwangju), Portro (Hoengseong), and Danigo Van (Gunsan) have become tangible in daily life through investment and job creation." Minister Ahn Kyung-duk of the Ministry of Employment also evaluated in his congratulatory remarks, "Win-win regional jobs have great significance in terms of building regional job governance, accumulating experience and capabilities in social dialogue, and forming social assets such as the spread of a win-win labor-management culture."
