This is the statement of Kim Hak-do, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC). He announced plans to expand support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the food sector to introduce carbon-neutral smart factories and provide post-management support, introduce ICT-based production efficiency equipment, and replace with energy-saving high-efficiency facilities.
On the afternoon of the 6th, at Jangsaeng Doraji (CEO Lee Young-chun) located in Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, during an on-site meeting with local companies engaged in food manufacturing, Chairman Kim stated, "To strengthen the competitiveness of K-Food, it is essential to globalize the standards of food manufacturing processes." SBC prepared this meeting to identify the difficulties in digital transformation for domestic food manufacturing companies and to improve support systems accordingly. The meeting was attended by eight small and medium-sized food manufacturing entrepreneurs from the Gyeongnam region, including Chairman Kim, CEO Lee Young-chun of Jangsaeng Doraji, CEO Seo Hee-young of Nambu Food, and CEO Oh Cheon-ho of Eco Mom’s Mountain Village Baby Food.
The entrepreneurs voiced their concerns, including ▲strengthening post-support such as human resource development and upgrades after smart factory introduction ▲support for carbon neutrality response through energy reduction in manufacturing processes ▲expansion of facility fund support related to smart factories.
In response, Chairman Kim said, "SBC is newly implementing and promoting smart factory post-management, carbon-neutral smart factory dissemination, and carbon-neutral management innovation voucher projects this year, and plans to further expand budgets related to digital transformation and carbon neutrality, such as manufacturing site smartization funds, next year."
Regarding the request for SBC’s attention to the growth of companies contributing to regional economic revitalization through raw material procurement and talent employment, Chairman Kim replied, "SBC is striving to nurture regional-type unicorn companies by allocating 500 billion KRW for regional balanced New Deal funds," adding, "In the future, through policy priority evaluations, we will establish a system to prioritize policy funds for companies operating regional specialized industries and those excelling in job creation."
