Myanmar Coup Military Regime Sentences Aung San Suu Kyi to 4 Years for Incitement and Quarantine Violations

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor of Myanmar under house arrest, has been sentenced to four years in prison for incitement and violating COVID-19 quarantine measures.
According to major foreign media on the 6th, the Myanmar military junta announced through its spokesperson that "Counsellor Suu Kyi was sentenced to two years in prison for incitement and two years for violating COVID-19 quarantine measures." This sentence is the first military court ruling against Counsellor Suu Kyi since the Myanmar military coup.
The Myanmar military claims that the general election held in November last year was fraudulent. They staged a coup on February 1 and placed Counsellor Suu Kyi under house arrest. She is currently charged with more than ten criminal offenses, including incitement and corruption.
