[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheolin] Gyeongsangnam-do held the ‘2021 Bu-Ul-Gyeong Startup Day Innovation Startup League Awards’ jointly with Busan and Ulsan at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel in Changwon on the 3rd.
The event was held to award outstanding teams participating in the Innovation Startup League, which has been operated since last July through collaboration among the Gyeongnam, Busan, and Ulsan Creative Economy Innovation Centers and sponsored by Samsung Electronics.
The Bu-Ul-Gyeong Startup Day Innovation Startup League is a project aimed at discovering promising startups in the region and supporting their growth to overcome the concentration of startup infrastructure in the metropolitan area, thereby seeking a virtuous cycle in the regional startup ecosystem.
A total of 223 startup teams with various ideas from Bu-Ul-Gyeong applied for the Innovation Startup League. Among them, 30 teams advanced to the finals and received expert mentoring and funding to refine their ideas. As a result, 14 outstanding startups were selected and awarded.
At the awards ceremony, participating companies set up booths to showcase their ideas to investors and others, and the grand prize-winning company also gave a corporate introduction (IR) presentation.
In the second part of the event, former iRiver Group Leader Im Seonghee and Socialbin CEO Kim Haksoo held a lecture and talk concert on the theme of ‘Domestic Startup Ecosystem and Success Know-how of Regional Startups.’

Park Jongwon, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeongsangnam-do, stated, “We want to be a safe support for startups to innovatively commercialize their ideas,” and added, “We will strive to provide synergy effects through Bu-Ul-Gyeong collaboration to the teams discovered in the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Startup Day Innovation Startup League.”
