Hamyang-gun's Daebongsan Recreation Valley Surpasses 200,000 Visitors Driving Tourism Industry
Closed for Winter Season Starting from the 27th (Zipline from the 15th)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongnam Hamyang Daebongsan Healing Valley, which has emerged as the nation's top mountain-type healing tourist destination, has achieved a remarkable milestone of surpassing 200,000 cumulative visitors just seven months after its opening.
According to the county on the 3rd, Daebongsan Healing Valley, which is driving Hamyang-gun's tourism industry with the country's longest monorail and zipline, recorded 200,497 visitors as of December 2nd, about seven months after its opening on April 21st. The cumulative sales revenue is reported to have reached approximately 1.32 billion KRW.
Achieving over 200,000 visitors and 1.3 billion KRW in sales just over half a year after opening is especially noteworthy given that many similar recreational facilities nationwide are struggling with operating deficits.
Furthermore, considering restrictions on the number of riders due to COVID-19 social distancing measures and various discount benefits such as expo ticket discounts, this is an impressive accomplishment.
Daebongsan Healing Valley prides itself on having the best safety facilities in the country, conducting a three-step safety inspection process including monthly detailed inspections (once), weekly inspections (once), and daily inspections to ensure passenger safety. It has also received a safety compliance certification from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority following regular inspections.
So Chang-ho, head of the Healing Valley Department, said, “I believe these achievements are the fruits of the sweat and dedication of the employees and workers who have quietly supported the Healing Valley despite heavy workloads. We will not be complacent with visible results but will continue to strengthen inspections and expand various facilities for customer convenience and safety. We will also make every effort to maintain thorough COVID-19 prevention measures.”

Meanwhile, Daebongsan Healing Valley will temporarily close for the winter season from December 27th (zipline from December 15th) to January 31st of next year, about a month, to prevent safety accidents caused by snow and ice due to dropping temperatures. During the closure period, additional detailed inspections of all facilities will be conducted.
