Yes24 conducted a three-week "Book of the Year 2021" reader vote from the 8th to the 29th of last month on 100 nominated books directly recommended by readers in advance. A total of 221,374 readers participated in this vote. Dr. Oh Eun-young's child education book "How Should I Talk?" received the most votes from readers, recording 23,145 votes (3%).
Selected as the number one "Book of the Year 2021," Dr. Oh Eun-young's "How Should I Talk?" is packed with 130 practical phrases that can be immediately applied to parenting realities, providing practical information on "parents' words" and ways to maintain healthy family relationships. It has also received much love since its publication, offering encouragement and comfort to readers, including parents in South Korea who strive for good parenting.
Regarding the voting results, Dr. Oh Eun-young said, "I am deeply moved that the thoughts I had while writing the book and my heart seem to have been well conveyed to the readers," adding, "We are children to someone, and some of us are also parents to someone. I feel a deep sense of mission to continue walking this path diligently so that we can love each other better without hurting one another and keep people's hearts warm."
In this vote, a total of 24 books were selected as the "Book of the Year 2021" across eight categories: novel/poetry/drama, essay, home economics, economy/management, social/politics, children, self-development, and humanities. Among them, six books in the novel/poetry/drama category accounted for the highest proportion. Next were five books in the essay category, and four books in the home economics category, including the number one "Book of the Year," "How Should I Talk?".
