Heo Eun-ah: "'Tear Strategy' Jo Dong-yeon, Bringing Shame to Working Moms... Only Deepening the People's Sighs"
"Tearing up strategy on the table... A professional working mom would grit her teeth and compete with skills"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Heo Eun-ah, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, sharply criticized Cho Dong-yeon, the co-chair of the Democratic Party's joint standing election committee, who has been embroiled in a personal life controversy, saying, "She is ruining the reputation of working moms all by herself."
On the 2nd, Heo posted on her Facebook, "I was going to refrain from commenting on personal matters, but as a fellow working mom, I am angry and must speak out," expressing her stance.
She condemned, "Putting aside the career exaggeration of being an aerospace expert, claiming the title of 'working mom in her 30s' was really excessive."
She continued, "Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil mentioned during the recruitment press conference that Cho was born in 1982, saying, 'I also shed many painful tears watching the movie 1982-born Kim Ji-young.' Which Kim Ji-young in the world would cause moral issues like Cho?"
Furthermore, "Today, Cho appeared on a broadcast and even shed tears, asking, 'Should people like me not even have the chance to challenge?' If you are going to apologize, just apologize cleanly; why bring out a tear strategy?" she criticized. "A professional working mom would grit her teeth and try to compete with her skills. Cho's current response is neither one thing nor the other."
Heo added, "Looking at Cho, one cannot help but doubt whether she has the qualities to bear the heavy responsibility toward the people in the future," and "Both the ruling party's presidential candidate and the standing election committee co-chair have caused unimaginable personal life issues, deepening the public's sighs."
Earlier that morning, Cho, the co-chair of the standing election committee, apologized on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' saying, "Many people must have felt discomfort and anger due to my personal life, and I am sorry and regretful."
She explained, "From the beginning, I started a tilted marriage, and the marriage ended leaving wounds on both sides," adding, "Personally, I lived quietly in the very narrow military community without making a sound since then. I don't know what decision I would have made if I had been alone, but at least I had children to protect and a mother who worked hard all her life to care for, so no matter what was said, I endured to the point of death, worked, and studied."

She appealed, "I wanted to ask whether people like me are not even allowed the opportunity to show my children a more confident mother even after 10 years or 20 to 30 years have passed, or whether people like me are not even granted the chance to take on a challenge called a dream after going through that time."
