Hamyang-gun Selected as an Excellent Local Government for Infectious Disease Management in COVID-19 Crisis Response
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has been recognized for its efforts to prevent infectious diseases amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and was selected as an excellent local government.
According to the county on the 2nd, it was selected as an "Excellent Institution in Infectious Disease Management Evaluation" at the 2021 Infectious Disease Conference hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) and received the Agency Director's Commendation.
In this evaluation, the county was recognized for its contributions to infectious disease management through the operation of the infectious disease surveillance system, completeness of epidemiological investigations, tracking of inbound travelers, implementation of quarantine projects, promotion using various media for infectious disease prevention behaviors, prompt response measures in case of statutory infectious disease outbreaks, and thorough follow-up management.
The county stated that this recognition reflects the efforts of all health center staff over the past year to prevent the spread within the region during the severe COVID-19 crisis.
Park Mi-hye, head of the health center, said, "Preventing infectious diseases before they occur is the most important," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that residents can live safe and healthy lives by responding timely to infectious disease outbreaks and continuously promoting prevention projects."

She continued, "Since the COVID-19 crisis is not over, we ask residents to actively comply with quarantine rules such as refraining from visiting other regions and mandatory mask-wearing."
