[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Jacqueline Avant, the wife of Clarence Avant, a godfather of American Black music, and the mother-in-law of Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, was shot and killed by an intruder.
According to the Associated Press on the 1st (local time), Avant was shot by an intruder who broke into her home in the affluent Beverly Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, late at night.
She was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away. When the police arrived at the scene, the intruder had already fled, and no other injuries were reported.
The police are investigating the motive behind the crime. They stated that there was a security guard at the residence at the time of the incident but did not disclose any statements from her husband, Avant.
