'Record High' 166 Confirmed Cases in Daejeon in One Day Only
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] On the 1st, 166 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Daejeon in a single day. The majority of the confirmed cases were patients admitted to local nursing facilities and facility workers, marking the highest number of cases ever recorded, surpassing the 125 cases from the IM Missionary Group cluster infection in January.
According to Daejeon City on the 2nd, 132 confirmed cases were reported from three local nursing facilities the previous day.
They tested positive for COVID-19 through the city's proactive testing.
The testing was conducted regardless of symptoms, confirming the spread of internal infections, and most of the confirmed cases are understood to be breakthrough infections.
Currently, the city’s quarantine authorities are cohort isolating the facilities where the confirmed cases stayed and conducting epidemiological investigations into the virus entry routes.
