College Student Dies During Plastic Surgery at Famous Gangnam Clinic... Police Launch Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A university student undergoing facial contouring surgery at a famous plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, died, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 2nd, according to the police, the Violent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has booked two doctors affiliated with Gangnam A Plastic Surgery Clinic on charges of professional negligence causing death and is currently investigating.
The university student B underwent facial contouring surgery under sedation at the plastic surgery clinic in March of this year and reportedly suffered from a high fever while waiting for nose surgery. Despite this, B did not regain consciousness and was transferred to the emergency room of a nearby university hospital but ultimately died the next day. The autopsy results estimated the cause of death as 'malignant hyperthermia.'

The bereaved family filed a complaint with the police in March, alleging that B's death was due to medical staff negligence. The police plan to comprehensively analyze the operating room CCTV footage and medical records to determine whether negligence occurred.
