[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency (Chief Kim Jun-cheol) invited youth guidance and education experts on the 30th to conduct specialized job training aimed at strengthening on-site response capabilities for 29 participants, including school police officers.
The specialized training was conducted in the order of “Approach Methods When Youth Sexual Issues Occur” by a professional instructor from the Gwangju Youth Sexual Culture Center, “Recent School Violence Status and Response Measures” by a professor from the Police Human Resources Development Institute, and “Improving Gender Sensitivity and Secondary Damage Prevention Education” by an internal instructor.
This training was prepared to enhance on-site response capabilities by improving crisis youth approach and counseling techniques, sharing recent youth crime cases and response measures, while also establishing a clear role for school police officers and reinforcing their proactive commitment to preventing school violence.
The attendees unanimously agreed that “It was very helpful to recognize the seriousness of youth issues and acquire tailored response methods,” and expressed hope that regular training programs would continue to be developed in the future.
A representative of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency stated, “With the mindset of protecting the safety of our own children, we will carefully consider the pain of victimized students and devote ourselves to tailored guidance for offending students. We will also strengthen cooperative relationships with the education office and schools, discover and implement various policies suited to students’ perspectives, and make efforts to provide special training and support for obtaining certifications to enhance the professionalism of school police officers.”
