Kia Receives Prime Minister's Commendation for 'Sustainable Management Meritorious Government Award'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kia announced on the 1st that it received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the '2021 Sustainable Management Meritorious Government Awards' ceremony held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and organized by the Korea Productivity Center.
The Sustainable Management Meritorious Government Awards are given to organizations that actively practice social responsibility through sustainable management and contribute to enhancing industrial competitiveness through exemplary management activities. The main evaluation criteria include achievements in environment, society, and governance-based sustainable management, as well as the implementation performance of national policy tasks.
Kia was recognized for its achievements in promoting environmental management to respond to climate change, operating job creation and employee retirement support programs, realizing social value through support for strengthening partner companies' capabilities, and improving corporate governance for ethical management, receiving the Prime Minister's Commendation.
In fact, last month, Kia announced its corporate vision as a 'provider of sustainable mobility solutions' and revealed the '2045 Carbon Neutrality Achievement Strategy,' aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 97% compared to 2019 levels by 2045 to realize this vision. Additionally, based on its future strategy 'Plan S,' Kia is also working to build a mobility ecosystem centered on eco-friendly vehicles.
Furthermore, Kia has implemented changes to its articles of incorporation, including support for smart factory construction projects to strengthen the competitiveness of second- and third-tier partner companies, ensuring gender diversity on the board of directors for ethical management, and reorganizing the Sustainable Management Committee.
