KakaoBank Signs Joint Research and Development Agreement with KakaoBrain
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] KakaoBank announced on the 1st that it has signed a 'Joint Research and Development Agreement' with KakaoBrain.
The two companies plan to conduct joint research in various fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) technology and financial consumer behavior analysis, and seek multifaceted cooperation on research that can create synergy.
Last year, KakaoBank established the 'Financial Technology Research Institute,' designated as an innovative financial service, focusing on exploring collaboration opportunities with external technology companies and research institutes, and researching and developing financial services based on new technologies such as AI, biometric authentication, and security.
KakaoBank expects this joint research cooperation to serve as a foundation for creating new financial innovation services.
Based on 'KoGPT,' a Korean language-specialized large-scale language model recently released by KakaoBrain, the two companies plan to utilize it to analyze financial consumer behavior and develop human-like AI technology to enhance customer experience by advancing KakaoBank's consultation chatbots and financial bots.

Additionally, the two companies will conduct joint research in various fields, including developing machine learning algorithms to prevent financial fraud such as voice phishing, and building machine learning operations (MLOps) to optimize service operations based on machine learning.
