[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Gyeongsangnam-do held a forum on the 30th at the College of Business Administration, Gyeongsang National University, together with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Gyeongsang National University, under the theme "Establishing the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Megacity and the Startup Ecosystem in Western Gyeongnam."
This forum was one of the on-site, field-centered "Bu-Ul-Gyeong Ultra-wide Area Cooperation Sectoral Discussions" conducted since last September, touring Changwon, Geoje, Namhae, Jinju, and other locations.
Kim Seung-cheol, Head of Policy Planning at Gyeongnam Technopark, presented on the topic "Plans for Establishing an Innovation Ecosystem in Western Gyeongnam," proposing the necessity of establishing an innovation institution to foster Western region development by linking and cooperating with 11 relocated public institutions in innovation cities, establishing a network to connect and develop specialized core technologies, and building a cooperative system with each institution.
Following this, Professor Park Sang-hyuk of the Graduate School of Startup at Gyeongsang National University presented on "Plans for Establishing a Startup Ecosystem in Western Gyeongnam," emphasizing that "it is important to create innovative startup spaces where startups, investors, large corporations, universities, and research institutions can freely interact, establish startup rental spaces on university campuses, and provide package support from startup to growth."
Additionally, Professor Jeong Dae-yul of Gyeongsang National University and others engaged in discussions on topics such as fostering new growth engine industries in Western Gyeongnam, creating a startup ecosystem, establishing the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity and Western Gyeongnam startup ecosystem, and plans for building a startup ecosystem centered on innovation cities.

Yoon In-guk, Director of the Future Strategy Bureau of Gyeongsangnam-do, stated, "Western Gyeongnam, along with Changwon, is an important axis of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity. Through sectoral discussions held in Jinju, Hadong, Namhae, and other areas, we have collected in-depth and diverse opinions on rural convergence industries, revitalizing return-to-farming and return-to-village initiatives, and attracting youth at the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity level." He added, "We will do our best to ensure that Bu-Ul-Gyeong ultra-wide area cooperation is well linked with the development of Western Gyeongnam."
