[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the morning of the 30th, a pipe burst at an apartment in Bongseon-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, causing flooding damage to about 20 vehicles.
According to the Nambu Fire Station, at around 6:25 a.m. that day, a pipe of the underground 2nd floor water tank (725t) burst at the apartment, causing water to flood the parking lot to a height of 1 meter.
As a result of this accident, about 20 vehicles in the parking lot were submerged, but no casualties occurred.
A Nambu Fire Station official stated, "By around 11 a.m., the water level decreased from waist to knee height," and added, "It is expected to take several hours to complete the drainage work."
The fire authorities deployed 56 firefighters and 20 underwater pumps and generators to carry out recovery work, while investigating the exact cause of the accident and the extent of the damage.
