Gwangju Seo-gu Completes Health Management 'Mobile Healthcare' Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 30th that it has successfully completed the ‘2021 Mobile Healthcare Project,’ a customized health management service utilizing ICT.
The ‘Mobile Healthcare Project’ is a program where a team of health institution professionals (doctors, coordinators, nurses, nutritionists, exercise specialists) provides customized health management services for six months through smart devices and mobile apps.
In May, Seo-gu selected 215 individuals with health risk factors such as blood pressure, blood sugar, waist circumference, triglycerides, and HDL cholesterol through an initial examination, provided them with smart bands, and offered intensive consultations and health monitoring services by experts in health, exercise, and nutrition.
According to the final examination results, among the 200 participants who continued for six months, 118 (59%) improved their health behavior practices, and among 191 examinees, 119 (62.3%) reduced their health risk factors, showing significant effects on improving healthy lifestyle practices and reducing chronic disease risk factors.
As non-face-to-face health management services are emerging due to COVID-19, Seo-gu plans to continue and expand the mobile healthcare project next year to promote and operate it so that more residents can participate, aiming to improve community health and prevent chronic diseases.
A Seo-gu official said, “We will expand non-face-to-face health management services suitable for the With-Corona era to help improve the health of local residents,” and added, “We ask for active participation and interest from the residents.”
