Korea Toyota's Commitment to Social Contribution: Fostering Automotive Talent and Protecting the Environment
Over 20 Years of Continuous Activity
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Toyota Motor Korea has been continuously engaging in social contribution activities for over 20 years, aiming to be a corporate citizen trusted by society and growing together with it.
According to Toyota Motor Korea on the 30th, the company focuses its social contribution efforts on two pillars: ‘talent development’ and ‘environment,’ with the goal of becoming a company loved by local communities through products, services, and social contributions.
First, as part of its domestic talent development social contribution projects, it operates ▲T-TEP (TOYOTA Technical Experience Program) for nurturing talent in the automotive field ▲Sejong Dream Tree Orchestra supporting children and youth ▲Lexus Creative Masters Project to discover emerging domestic craft artists. Among these, T-TEP is a program where Toyota Motor Korea provides automotive technology college students with technical knowledge and field expertise to foster domestic automotive technology talent. Last year, Toyota Motor Korea signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with seven automotive technology colleges nationwide, and in March this year, it donated a total of eight vehicles for vehicle technology education, including six HEV models such as the Lexus ES300h, Toyota Camry HEV, Avalon HEV, and two gasoline models, one vehicle per college.

Efforts toward sustainable living are also being made through the Toyota Weekend Farmer program, which cultivates agricultural products using eco-friendly farming methods, and the Connect to Young Farmers project. Started in 2012, the Toyota Weekend Farmer program allows participants to grow agricultural products using eco-friendly farming methods and holds events that contribute to carbon neutrality through small actions. Additionally, some of the harvested crops are shared with underprivileged groups, and kimchi is prepared and donated to the social welfare organization ‘Anna’s House.’ This year’s kimchi sharing event involved employees from 16 Toyota and Lexus dealerships.
