LG Electronics announced that, in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, it will operate the LG CLOi GuideBot at the Seoul Citizens University Southeast Campus located in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, starting from the 29th.
The LG CLOi GuideBot acts as a docent by providing explanations of the exhibited works to visitors during gallery tours at the Citizen Gallery, an exhibition space within the school, and takes photos of visitors with the artworks as backgrounds, then sends the photos via text message.
When there is no scheduled gallery tour, it roams around the campus providing information related to the facilities. If campus visitors use the robot's touchscreen to find a classroom, it guides them with location, route, and estimated time through the screen and voice, and if desired, offers a 'destination accompaniment service' to escort them to their destination.
Unveiled by LG Electronics last September, the LG CLOi GuideBot is characterized by its multifunctionality including visitor guidance, advertising, security, and docent roles. The 27-inch displays on the front and back serve as customized advertising panels, and the cameras can perform security tasks such as detecting intruders during late-night hours.
LG Electronics provides an integrated control system and continuous maintenance services to companies or organizations that have introduced the LG CLOi GuideBot. The robot integrated control system offers comprehensive solutions necessary for system operation, including real-time robot monitoring and remote control, as well as management of various information, content, schedules, and statistics.
