[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A photo showing the owner of a hair salon located near a university in Seoul forcing a man in his 70s, who was working part-time distributing flyers, to kneel has sparked controversy among netizens.
Recently, a YouTuber posted a video titled "The Reason the Abusive Hair Salon Owner Made a Woman in Her 70s Kneel." The photo revealed in the video showed a woman kneeling on what appeared to be the floor of the hair salon, with her hands clasped together. Two police officers were standing nearby, observing the situation.
According to the tip-off, Mr. A, in his 70s, had previously placed flyers for a certain company into the hair salon’s mailbox. The salon owner, Mr. B, who witnessed this, called the company listed on the flyer to complain. The company’s owner apologized to Mr. B, but Mr. B demanded, "I want an apology directly from Mr. A."
When Mr. A visited Mr. B’s hair salon to apologize, Mr. B ordered him to kneel and beg in front of him. When the elderly man said, "It’s difficult for me to kneel," Mr. B reported him to the police. When the police arrived, Mr. A, frightened, knelt in front of Mr. B. Mr. B took a photo of this scene and sent it to the company’s owner with the message, "I have received an apology. Thank you."
