He named Presidents Rhee Syngman, Park Chung-hee, Kim Young-sam, and Kim Dae-jung as the most highly regarded presidents in history.
On the afternoon of the 25th, Candidate Yoon visited his alma mater, Seoul National University, and attended the People Power Party Seoul Campus General Assembly.
When asked, "Among the past presidents, who do you evaluate the highest?" he replied, "Instead of naming just one, I would mention several: President Rhee Syngman, who established the government and set the constitutional value of liberal democracy, although he was later ousted by the April 19 Revolution and the democratic revolution; President Park Chung-hee, who boosted the economy and laid the foundation for democratization; and Presidents Kim Young-sam and Kim Dae-jung, who devoted themselves to democratization."
He continued, "Presidents after them should be evaluated after more time has passed. The evaluations of the immediate past president (Park Geun-hye) and the one before her (Lee Myung-bak) seem premature."
Candidate Yoon said, "In governing the country and in politics, there are always both light and shadow. We should not look only at the shadows nor only at the light, but when viewed in balance, we must comprehensively judge the situations our country faced at the time."
