The Safety Korea Drill assumed a complex disaster scenario where prolonged heavy rain caused a landslide within the Gokseong storage base, damaging facilities and leading to oil leakage and water pollution.
The drill focused on prioritizing public safety and minimizing damage through rapid disaster response and recovery.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Oil Corporation, and Gokseong County, which participated in the drill, thoroughly inspected the performance capabilities of each agency's emergency response organization and reviewed and improved the on-site response manuals.
A collaborative system among the government, local governments, and related organizations was established to strengthen joint disaster response capabilities.
Kim Dong-seop, President of the Oil Corporation, said, "Please ensure thorough inspection and improvement of the oil storage base safety management system."
The Oil Corporation received the Prime Minister's Commendation as the best organization in the national core infrastructure disaster management evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year.
