Honam University Students Kim Hyuntae and Yeo Unseok Win Awards at Software Competition

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Department of Computer Engineering at Honam University (Department Head Kim Nam-ho) announced on the 25th that students Kim Hyun-tae and Yeo Woon-seok (both third-year) won awards at the 2021 Bitgaram Energy Valley Software Project Competition.
Kim Hyun-tae received the Excellence Award (prize money 1 million KRW) for object distance measurement using openCV in this competition, and Yeo Woon-seok received the Encouragement Award (prize money 500,000 KRW) for viewing nutritional information through food image recognition using machine learning.
This competition contributes to discovering local software talents and creating quality jobs as part of fostering local talent and contributing to the community for establishing an innovative Energy Valley.
The Department of Computer Engineering at Honam University also had active student research teams, such as third-year students Choi Jun-hwan and Lee Won-bin winning the Encouragement Award (prize money 500,000 KRW) at the 'Gwangju-type AI Problem Solving Idea Contest' hosted by the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency in early November.
Department Head Kim Nam-ho said, "Results from steady research in each lab are gradually emerging. We will actively discover and support programs to strengthen students' capabilities."
