CJ Freshway Ranks No.1 for Three Consecutive Years in Food Ingredients Market for Elderly
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CJ Freshway, a CJ Group company specializing in food ingredient distribution and group catering, announced on the 25th that it has ranked first for three consecutive years (2019?2021) as the supplier of food ingredients to senior welfare facilities in the metropolitan area.
CJ Freshway secured contracts with 107 out of 472 welfare facilities in the metropolitan area that selected food ingredient suppliers this year based on the Public Procurement Service's national comprehensive electronic procurement system (Nara Market), achieving a total order amount of 27.4 billion KRW and capturing a market share of 27.5%, ranking first.
In response to the rapidly increasing elderly population in Korea, CJ Freshway launched ‘Healthy Nuri,’ the industry's first dedicated brand for welfare facilities, in 2015 and began full-scale market penetration. Since 2019, it has maintained the number one market share in food ingredient supply to metropolitan welfare facilities for three consecutive years.
CJ Freshway Healthy Nuri has specialized capabilities in senior-tailored nutrition management based on know-how developed through operating group catering in medical institutions, including low-calorie, low-sodium meals, and diets for diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, specialized personnel in charge of welfare facilities supply over 600 types of customized food ingredients tailored to each facility and disease, based on a high understanding of care food. Furthermore, semi-processed and fully processed products of high quality and hygiene standards are produced at the central kitchen (centralized cooking facility) located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. This enables welfare facilities with labor shortages to provide diverse nutritious meals without complicated cooking processes.
Since 2018, Healthy Nuri has expanded its scope beyond food ingredient supply to include the development of elderly-friendly foods such as softened and low-sodium meals, as well as customized meal plans and hygiene management and education consulting for welfare facilities, strengthening its competitiveness as a total care food brand that supports healthy eating for seniors. Next year, Healthy Nuri plans to launch PB products of agricultural, marine, and livestock products. The company is also actively expanding its business by extending Healthy Nuri specialty stores, which were concentrated in the outskirts of the metropolitan area, nationwide.
