Promotion of Park Development for Gangneung's Top Tourist Spot 'Gyeonso~Sunpo Coastal Area'
Coastal Pine Forest Area Gyeongpo Districts 2 and 3 Site District Unit Plan Change Scheduled
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City is promoting the 'Coastal Green Axis Park Project' to prevent indiscriminate development in the coastal pine forest area, provide healing spaces for local residents and tourists, and lay the foundation for a marine tourism hub city.
According to Gangneung City on the 24th, the district unit plan will be changed for the coastal pine forest area from Gyeonso-dong to Sanchon-myeon Sandaewol-ri, covering approximately 721,000㎡, including Gyeongpo District 2 and District 3.
This area is subject to land use regulations that restrict property rights, so the plan is to sequentially purchase the target land in bulk, designate it as an urban planning facility (neighborhood park), and thereby prevent indiscriminate development and preserve the natural landscape.
The compensation amount for the target land is expected to be about 65 billion KRW, and land compensation and maintenance will be promoted according to an annual plan starting next year, with completion scheduled by 2026.
