Jeonju City Improves Pedestrian Environment on Urban Greenbelt Walking Trails
Targeting Four Locations Including Riverside Buffer Green Space... Beautifully and Comfortably Maintained
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 24th that it will promote the ‘Urban Greenbelt Walkway Pedestrian Environment Improvement Project’ at four locations, including the buffer greenbelt along Gangbyeon-ro, by mid-next month to expand urban green spaces and provide a beautiful and pleasant walking environment.
This project involves safely improving walkways that were inconvenient to use and planting about 8,400 shrubs and herbaceous plants in existing green spaces. It will be carried out at △ buffer greenbelt along Gangbyeon-ro △ pedestrian-only road in Innovation City △ buffer greenbelt along Jangseungbaegi-ro in Samcheon-dong △ scenic green space near Gold Class 2nd in Pyeonghwa-dong.
For the buffer greenbelt walkway along Gangbyeon-ro, where the lack of drainage facilities has caused inconvenience in passage, new drainage channels will be installed. At the pedestrian-only road in Innovation City, 2,200 azalea plants will be planted.
Additionally, at the buffer greenbelt along Jangseungbaegi-ro in Samcheon-dong, old facilities such as decks and benches will be refurbished, and about 2,700 Spiraea plants will be planted.
Furthermore, about 3,500 plants including Lycoris radiata will be planted in the scenic green space near Gold Class 2nd in Pyeonghwa-dong, and a 300-meter section of the nearby walkway will also be maintained.
An official from the city’s Forest and Greenery Division said, “As citizens increasingly visit urban green spaces due to growing interest in health and the environment, we are focusing on walkway maintenance and planting projects. After planting, we will also make every effort to maintain green facilities to ensure a smooth growth environment.”
