Hampyeong-gun Accelerates Expansion of Sports Facility Infrastructure to Promote Residents' Health
‘Hampyeong Comprehensive Sports Town Development Project’ Resident Briefing Session Held
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is accelerating the expansion of public sports facility infrastructure to promote the health of residents and expand the base of community sports.
On the 24th, according to Hampyeong County, a residents' briefing session was held on the 23rd at the small conference room of Hampyeong County Office for local residents and stakeholders to promote the 'Hampyeong Comprehensive Sports Town Development Project.'
The 'Hampyeong Comprehensive Sports Town Development Project,' which the county is promoting as a key project, involves a total project cost of 42.3 billion KRW and mainly includes the construction of an indoor swimming pool, indoor gymnasium, and soccer field in the area of 147 Hyanggyo-ri, Daedong-myeon.
Previously, the county completed administrative procedures such as reflecting the project in the medium-term financial plan last year and announcing the restricted area for development activity permits, and recently completed a feasibility study and basic plan investigation.
Considering the results of the investigation and the county's financial conditions, the project will be carried out in two phases: Phase 1 (2021?2024) and Phase 2 (2025?2027). The project site will also be partially reduced from the original plan due to a lack of economic feasibility.
Hampyeong County, the only one among the 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do without a swimming pool, will prioritize the construction of an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, which are the residents' wishes, in the first phase of the project.
Regarding the indoor swimming pool, it passed the Jeollanam-do local finance investment review in August and plans to hold a design competition this month, while the indoor gymnasium will be actively promoted after completing administrative procedures such as the county management plan decision.
A county official said, "With the selection of the Hampyeong indoor swimming pool in the '2022 National Sports Center Construction Support Contest' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, we expect to receive 3 billion KRW in national funding, which will give more momentum to the comprehensive sports town development project."
