LG Electronics Hosts 'Korea Service Technology Olympics'... Competing in Repair and Cleaning Fields
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 24th that it held the 'Korea Service Technology Olympics,' where service engineers showcase their repair skills and share technical know-how.
LG Electronics held the competition over two days starting the day before at the LG Electronics Learning Center located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. About 200 service engineers recommended from over 130 service centers nationwide competed in the preliminary round, and among them, about 40 participated in the finals.
This competition was divided into two categories: product repair and home appliance cleaning service. In the product repair category, LG Electronics evaluated how quickly and accurately faults in five product groups?refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, TVs, and PCs/monitors?were repaired. The home appliance cleaning service evaluated how promptly and thoroughly the cleaning process was carried out while accurately following the cleaning procedures.

LG Electronics has been holding the Technology Olympics for domestic service engineers since 2002 and has expanded it into a global competition for overseas service engineers since 2018.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics explained that it operates service academies in more than 10 countries to improve service quality domestically and internationally, providing training to enhance service engineers' repair skills, service know-how, and customer response capabilities. Additionally, in 2017, it established the global online education system GLMS to offer customized training according to the engineers' skill levels.
