Former President Park Geun-hye Hospitalized at Samsung Seoul Hospital... "Focusing on Medical Treatment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Former President Park Geun-hye (69), who is incarcerated at Seoul Detention Center, was admitted to Samsung Medical Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 22nd for treatment. This marks the third time this year that she has been hospitalized at an external hospital.
The Ministry of Justice stated on the same day, "(Former President Park) will focus on treatment during the hospitalization period according to the medical staff's opinion at the hospital, and the discharge schedule is undecided."
Earlier this year, former President Park was classified as a close contact of COVID-19 and was admitted to the same hospital, where she received treatment for 20 days after testing negative. Then, in July, she was hospitalized for a month at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital for postoperative observation of shoulder surgery and treatment of back pain.
A Ministry of Justice official explained the reason for her admission to Samsung Medical Center instead of St. Mary's Hospital, where she had previously been treated, saying, "The hospital was changed by agreement between the attending physician and the patient," and added, "Specific disease names cannot be disclosed as they are personal information."
