The final performance on the Grand Hall stage will be filled with masterpieces by the modern music maestro Stravinsky, conducted by Maestro Massimo Zanetti and performed by the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra.
Founded in 1997, the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra was the first Korean orchestra to perform at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in 2015 and was officially invited to the Saarland Music Festival.
In 2016, Maestro Riccardo Muti took the podium and praised the orchestra as "an orchestra that responds swiftly to the conductor's demands."
They have elevated the status of Korean classical music by collaborating with world-renowned musicians such as the internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman.
In this concert, the orchestra will work in harmony with the conductor Massimo Zanetti, who is praised for his delicate conducting style, to present an emotionally moving stage to the audience.
Maestro Massimo Zanetti has built an international reputation by performing at the world's top opera houses and concert halls.
Since 2018, he has been conducting the Gyeonggi Philharmonic, raising the orchestra's skill to an international level and receiving applause and acclaim from critics, experts, and audiences alike at every performance.
This concert will feature Stravinsky's 1947 version of "Apollo Musag?te," "Pulcinella," and the 1919 version of "The Firebird," among others.
The 2021 World Orchestra Series, under the subtitle "The Great Maestro," consisted of performances by world-class conductors such as Yap van Zweden of the KBS Symphony Orchestra and Massimo Zanetti of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside domestic symphony orchestras.
Having opened with its first piece in September, the 2021 World Orchestra Series will conclude its two-month festival by hosting the "World Orchestra Series Forum," which presents the future of music education.
The forum will be held on the 26th at the Daegu Marriott Hotel under the theme "The Direction of Music Education through Orchestras in the With-Corona Era."
Orchestra managers and related personnel from domestic city and provincial orchestras will gather to discuss various topics such as orchestra education, management vision, and music education, aiming to explore the development direction of orchestras.
Kwon Eun-sil, representative of the Organizing Committee Secretariat, said, "It is regrettable that the festival, filled with passion for orchestral music, is coming to an end," adding, "We hope the closing performance by the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra will be a time to heal tired bodies and minds."
