Chosun University of Science and Technology - STATS ChipPAC Korea Join Hands to Train Next-Generation Semiconductor Talent

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Chosun Institute of Science and Technology (President Jo Soon-gye) announced on the 22nd that it signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with StatsChipPac Korea Co., Ltd., located in Incheon, on the 19th at the auditorium of StatsChipPac Korea Co., Ltd. to foster talent and promote industry-academia exchange in the next-generation semiconductor field.
The signing ceremony was attended by Chosun Institute of Science and Technology President Jo Soon-gye, Kang Hyung-sun, Director of Student Employment, Choi Yeon-woong, Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation, Park Yong-seop, Head of the Next-Generation Semiconductor Project Group at the Digital Innovation Shared University, Kim Pil-jung, Academic Affairs Officer of the Next-Generation Semiconductor Project Group at the Digital Innovation Shared University, Park Jeong-cheol, Director of the Student Employment Center, and from StatsChipPac Korea Co., Ltd., Executive Director Lim Sang-hyun, Director Park Myung-ho, and Manager Kang Pil-soon.
Chosun Institute of Science and Technology was selected in May as part of the new 'Korean New Deal' project for the 'Digital New Technology Talent Development Innovation Shared University.' To nurture talent in the 'next-generation semiconductor' field, it is developing and operating curricula in semiconductor materials, design, and circuit fields together with Seoul National University (lead university), Kangwon National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Daegu University, Soongsil University, and Chung-Ang University.
The Department of Electronics at Chosun Institute of Science and Technology plans to receive approximately 1 to 1.5 billion KRW in government funding annually until February 2027 to train about 400 next-generation semiconductor practical talents each year.
Through this agreement, the Digital Innovation Shared University Next-Generation Semiconductor Project Group at Chosun Institute of Science and Technology and StatsChipPac Korea will mutually cooperate on curriculum development for next-generation semiconductor talent cultivation, practical education for students, re-education of industry personnel, student employment support, academic exchange, and industry-academia cooperation.
Founded in 1984, StatsChipPac Korea is a globally recognized leading company in semiconductor packaging and testing, currently employing about 4,500 people.
President Jo Soon-gye of Chosun Institute of Science and Technology said, "We are very pleased that our university and the leading semiconductor company StatsChipPac Korea have signed an agreement to foster next-generation semiconductor talent," adding, "Through this agreement, we expect not only to establish an organic cooperative system to cultivate excellent talent desired by semiconductor companies but also to promote more active professional technology exchanges for the future semiconductor industry."
