2021 President's Dialogue with the People, Returning to Daily Life... "Breakthrough Infections Will Significantly Decrease Once the Third Dose Is Administered"
[Asia Economy Reporters Jungmin Ryu and Jieun Lee] President Moon Jae-in stated on the 21st during the live broadcast of "Dialogue with the President and the People, Back to Daily Life" on KBS, "Breakthrough infections can occur, but if someone tests positive due to a breakthrough infection, we will ensure that medical measures are promptly provided by having a well-established manual."
President Moon made this remark in response to a question from a citizen who experienced a breakthrough infection but did not receive timely medical treatment.
President Moon said, "I apologize for the failure to properly inform people that there is a manual at the health authorities and public health centers on how to respond when faced with difficult situations."
He added, "This is the first time we are experiencing COVID-19. Although we believe we are responding well globally, there are many shortcomings." While acknowledging that no vaccine provides perfect immunity, President Moon pledged that the government will prepare countermeasures.

President Moon stated, "Breakthrough infections occur because vaccine-induced immunity wanes, so we are shortening the interval for booster shots and administering them faster than 4 or 5 months. The public is cooperating well. I believe that once the third dose is administered, breakthrough infection cases will significantly decrease."
