'Hwang Hana, on probation for drugs, appeals second trial verdict'
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Hwang Hana (33), who was sentenced to prison in the first and second trials for using drugs during her probation period, has appealed the verdict.
According to the legal community on the 20th, Hwang's side submitted a notice of appeal to the 1-1 Criminal Appeals Division of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Seong Ji-ho) the day before.
Hwang was indicted for using methamphetamine five times, including using it with her late husband Oh and acquaintances Nam and Kim in August last year, and using methamphetamine with Oh at a motel in Seoul at the end of the same month. Hwang is also charged with stealing items worth approximately 5 million won from Kim's residence on November 29 last year.
The first trial court sentenced Hwang to two years in prison. In the second trial, considering the acknowledgment of some drug use and the settlement with the victim of the theft, the sentence was reduced to one year and eight months in prison.

Previously, Hwang was tried for repeatedly using methamphetamine at her home in Seoul with her ex-boyfriend, singer Park Yoo-chun, and acquaintances from 2015 to 2018, and in the 2019 appeal trial, she was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation.
