Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Holds South Sea Region Port Border Information Sharing Council Meeting
Joint Drill Conducted to Prevent Security Incidents at Gwangyang Port
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 19th that it held the Southern Sea Region Port Border Information Sharing Council and conducted on-site joint training with national security-related agencies such as the National Intelligence Service, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Justice, and Korea Customs Service.
The authority stated that through the council meeting, it reviewed measures to strengthen security response capabilities and ensure organic cooperation with related agencies, and also conducted on-site customized joint training to address issues such as illegal entry and unauthorized departure of foreign crew members that may occur at the port.
To prevent security incidents within Gwangyang Port, the authority has been making significant efforts including the installation of various security facilities and equipment, as well as training security personnel, and plans to strengthen cooperation and information sharing with related agencies through the council.
President Cha Min-sik of the authority said, “I believe this council meeting will serve as an opportunity to enhance the cooperation system for responding to security incidents such as unauthorized disembarkation and improve initial response capabilities.” He added, “The authority’s employees and related agencies will continue to strive to achieve zero security incidents at Gwangyang Port.”
