Jeonnam Province Takes Full-Scale Action to Address Urea Solution Shortage Issue
Eungumju Deputy Governor Leads 'T/F Team' Full-scale Operation
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has begun full-scale measures to address the supply issue of urea solution.
On the 19th, according to the province, Executive Vice Governor Moon Geum-ju presided over the "Urea Solution Supply Management T/F Team Current Issues Meeting."
This meeting followed an emergency inspection of the urea solution supply status by sector within the province on the 11th, with Executive Vice Governor Moon and heads of provincial departments attending.
They shared the government's emergency supply adjustment measures for urea solution and focused discussions on supply measures for the public sector by department, as well as management plans for essential vehicles such as fire and ambulance vehicles.
The province, after assessing the remaining urea solution needed for public transportation such as rural and village buses, medical emergency vehicles, and construction equipment?which significantly affect residents' daily lives?predicted that vehicle operation would not face problems until the end of this year.
However, it was found that ambulance vehicles, including those from private medical institutions, are expected to run out by the end of this month. Therefore, the province plans to request additional supply for the public sector from government ministries and seek ways to share remaining supplies with each city and county as well as the private sector within the province.
They also discussed the supply concentration phenomenon resulting from the government's emergency supply adjustment measures, which prioritized supply mainly to 109 key gas stations nationwide, including highway rest areas.
According to the current government announcement, domestic daily production of urea solution is understood to have exceeded daily consumption.
Accordingly, Jeonnam Province will form a urea solution distribution monitoring team to investigate sales locations, inventory levels, and supply prices at a total of 847 gas stations within the province starting from the 22nd, and plans to disclose the results weekly on the provincial website beginning the 26th.
Executive Vice Governor Moon Geum-ju stated, "Although the operating rate of domestic urea solution manufacturers is rising and import volumes are greatly improving, residents' anxiety about the shortage of urea solution remains high. We must systematically manage the supply situation and actively inform about supply sources."
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Province Urea Solution Supply Management T/F Team is led by Executive Vice Governor Moon, with the Director of the Job Economy Headquarters overseeing operations. The team consists of six divisions?General Affairs, Industrial Support, Essential Vehicle Support, Agriculture and Fisheries Support, Construction Equipment Support, and Public Sector Support?and involves 12 provincial departments. Meetings are planned to be held regularly every week.
