Ulsan Office of Education Trains 'Suicide Prevention Experts' Using Global Techniques
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Office of Education conducted training to cultivate suicide prevention experts for students at risk.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held a two-day job training session on the 20th and 21st for 30 newly appointed professional counselors and volunteer teachers.
The suicide prevention expert (ASIST) training is a program designed for suicide first aid and suicide intervention skills training.
The program, developed in Canada and the United States, has been taught to over one million people in 22 countries and is the most widely disseminated program worldwide.
The Office of Education provided education on crisis intervention methods through situation simulations and interaction facilitation to teachers who found it difficult to help students in emotional distress.
A professional instructor from the Korea Suicide Prevention Association was deployed to focus on understanding people at risk of suicide and how to approach and assist them.
