Muan-gun Selected for Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project Two Years in a Row
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) has been selected for the second consecutive year in the "2022 New Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project" hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Energy Agency.
According to the county on the 19th, a total project cost of 3.63 billion KRW, including 1.93 billion KRW of national funds secured through the contest, 1.27 billion KRW of local funds, and 430 million KRW of self-contribution, will be invested to install 453 power generation facilities (388 solar power, 65 solar thermal) to foster 1,609 kW of new renewable energy sources for 399 households and 54 commercial buildings.
This project will be implemented targeting Muan-eup, Mongtan-myeon, and Cheonggye-myeon, and through the 2023 contest project, it will be expanded to other eup and myeon areas, with plans to support all eup and myeon within the next five years.
Governor Kim San stated, "Through the promotion of this project, we expect to establish safe energy self-reliant villages, secure the basic right to energy, and reduce the economic burden on residents," adding, "We will develop into an energy self-reliant city through continuous expansion of eco-friendly energy projects in line with post-COVID policies."
Meanwhile, the 2021 contest project invested a total of 3.6 billion KRW to install new renewable energy facilities in 368 households across two eup areas, Illo-eup and Samhyang-eup. The current progress rate is 80%, and the project is expected to be completed within the year.
