Namwon-si Selected for 4 Categories in 2022 Saengsaeng Village Making Contest

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 19th that four sectors were selected in the 2022 Saengsaeng Village Making field (Saengsaeng Plus Project, Village Community Renovation Project) public contest.

The Saengsaeng Village Making project is a program aimed at creating rural vitality full of energy by systematically supporting village projects, preserving the characteristics of villages, and linking the talents of village residents, expatriates, and urban residents with the resources of rural areas to build a continuous mutual healing network.

This year’s selected projects include Yocheon Daseulgi Village for the village residents’ lifelong education support project, the Urban-Rural Coexistence Healing Program, the Namwon City Rural Comprehensive Support Center for the village unit customized support project, and Sandong Sangsin Village for the village community renovation support project.

Earlier, the city recently solicited a total of seven sectors for this project, and through a written evaluation by village and corporate representatives from Jeonbuk Province, four sectors were finally selected this year.

The Saengsaeng Village Making projects selected in this year’s contest will receive a total of 90 million KRW, aiming to enhance the quality of life of residents through lifelong education support that preserves the characteristics of the villages, provide learning and hobby activity programs involving village residents, expatriates, and urban residents, link the talents of urban residents with the resources of rural areas to promote rural vitality, and contribute to the activation of rural experience and recreation villages through the renovation of experience centers.

A city official stated, “We plan to continue promoting resident-led village community programs through ongoing Saengsaeng Village Making support projects to create vibrant and happy villages.”
