Yeongsangang Cheong Conducts Intensive Inspection of Drinking Water Quality Testing Agencies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office (Director Ryu Yeon-gi) announced that starting from the 19th, for one month, it plans to conduct a focused inspection on the compliance status of drinking water quality testing institutions to enhance the reliability of drinking water data and ensure the safety of the public’s drinking water.
For this inspection, a preliminary survey on deficiencies was conducted by having 8 drinking water quality testing institutions complete a self-diagnosis evaluation checklist.
According to the Drinking Water Management Act, testing institutions must conduct water quality tests in accordance with the drinking water quality official test standards throughout the entire process of sample collection, transportation, storage, and analysis to improve the reliability of analysis results. They must also record facts accurately in the sample collection log and test record book and keep these records for two years, strictly adhering to compliance requirements.
This guidance inspection will check overall matters such as the normal attendance of technical personnel, compliance of testing institutions, equipment calibration inspections, completion of mandatory training, and adherence to the drinking water quality official test standards.
A representative of the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office stated, “We will actively seek ways to minimize the burden on testing institutions while ensuring the reliability of analysis results through continuous communication, including collecting suggestions from testing institutions,” and “We will do our utmost to create a healthy water environment and secure clean and safe drinking water.”
