Gangjin-gun Hosts the 6th Gateball Tournament Inviting 6 Counties

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The 6th Invitational Gateball Tournament for 6 Counties will be held on the 22nd at the gateball field inside the Gangjin County Sports Complex in Jeonnam.

According to the county on the 18th, this 6th tournament invites gateball teams from six counties in Jeonnam?Jindo, Haenam, Wando, Jangheung, Yeongam, and Yeonggwang?to create a place of harmony and to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to COVID-19.

Each of the six counties will send one team, and Gangjin County will have 18 teams participating, making a total of 24 teams and about 150 players competing.

Son Hong-sik, president of the Gangjin County Gateball Association, said, “We are grateful to the county for supporting the promotion of this tournament,” and added, “We will make this event an opportunity to actively promote gateball and Gangjin County through exchanges with the participating teams.”

Lee Seung-ok, the county governor, said, “Since this tournament invites gateball teams from six counties, we expect it to be a meaningful event to promote Gangjin County,” and added, “Gangjin County will also create and promote various activities that seniors can enjoy in line with the era of 100-year lifespans.”

Meanwhile, the Gangjin County Gateball Association plans to conduct the tournament in compliance with government guidelines during the event period, including requiring all participants to wear masks, measuring body temperature on the day, filling out visitor logs and quarantine registers, and submitting PCR negative test results and proof of second vaccine doses.
