Japanese Government Strongly Protests Korean National Police Chief's Visit to Dokdo
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] Japan announced on the 16th that it strongly protested to the South Korean government regarding Police Commissioner General Kim Chang-ryong's visit to Dokdo.
Matsuno Hirokazu, Chief Cabinet Secretary and spokesperson for the Japanese government, conveyed this during a regular press conference in the afternoon.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno reiterated Japan's claim to sovereignty over Dokdo, stating, "Takeshima (the name Japan uses for Dokdo) is clearly Japan's inherent territory both in light of historical facts and international law."
He added, "We will continue to respond firmly with the determination to protect our country's territory, territorial waters, and airspace."

Kim, who is in charge of Dokdo's security, visited Dokdo and Ulleungdo by helicopter on the same day to assess the situation on site and encourage the Dokdo security personnel.
