[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A 3-month-old stray cat was found with severe burns on its face, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Wando Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that on the 13th, a stray cat was found by a resident in a field in Wando-eup, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, with burns on its face.
The cat is currently receiving treatment at an animal hospital in Mokpo. At the time of discovery, the cat had burns on its eyes and nose and is suspected to have been abused.
It is known that about six months ago, another cat was found in the village with burns on its back and ears.
The police are investigating on the suspicion that someone abused the stray cat and are analyzing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area where the cat was found.
A Wando Police Station official said, "It appears that animal abuse was clearly committed by someone," adding, "We plan to investigate by analyzing the CCTV footage from the area where the cat was found."
