Jeonnam Fire Department Adds 'Advanced Equipment' to Protect Residents' Safety
Excellent Fire Suppression Capability 'KAP Fire Truck' Deployed to Frontline Fire Stations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) is introducing advanced equipment to strengthen fire response capabilities.
Jeonnam Fire announced on the 16th that it will expand the introduction of CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) fire trucks, which have up to seven times better fire extinguishing capability than regular fire trucks.
The CAFS fire truck is a fire extinguishing vehicle that applies new technology by mixing water and foam extinguishing agents with high-pressure air and spraying them.
It increases the foam adhesion duration on combustible materials, providing excellent suffocation extinguishing effects, making it superior in extinguishing capability compared to conventional water fire trucks.
In particular, it can respond to fires at oil facilities or machinery fires, which are difficult to suppress with water, using a small amount of foam agent, and it can prevent secondary water damage caused by high-pressure extinguishing water.
Also, covering the fire with foam during the initial fire stage or final extinguishing of residual flames enables faster fire suppression and reduces the recoil effect caused by water pressure, effectively decreasing the fatigue of firefighting personnel.
Using foam certified as an eco-friendly material also prevents environmental pollution.
Jeonnam Fire previously owned three CAFS fire trucks, and this time, 12 units were deployed to nine fire stations: Mokpo Fire Station, Yeosu Fire Station, Suncheon Fire Station, Naju Fire Station, Gwangyang Fire Station, Damyang Fire Station, Boseong Fire Station, Yeonggwang Fire Station, and Hwasun Fire Station.
