Namwon-si Implements Comprehensive Measures for College Scholastic Ability Test Preparation
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 16th that it will implement traffic measures for the 2022 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) and COVID-19 prevention measures to ensure smooth testing for examinees.
On the upcoming 18th, 993 CSAT applicants will take the test in the Namwon district (Namwon, Imsil, Sunchang, Jangsu), and the city will conduct the exam at five test sites (Namwon High School, Namwon Girls' High School, Seongwon High School, Namwon Seojin Girls' High School, Namwon Education and Culture Center).
The city’s public health center will support diagnostic testing until 10 PM on the 17th, the day before the exam, to check COVID-19 prevention for examinees.
By extending the operating hours by 4 hours compared to the usual time, examinees showing suspected infectious disease symptoms or requiring diagnostic tests can visit the health center for prompt testing.
Examinees who receive a positive diagnosis or quarantine notification by early morning on the 18th after testing must immediately inform the health center that they are CSAT applicants and report the notification to the Provincial Office of Education by phone.
Additionally, all high schools in Namwon City have switched to remote classes since the 11th, one week before the exam, to prevent group infections among examinees and to strengthen quarantine management in the exam rooms.
To ensure safe management of the CSAT on the exam day, a CSAT traffic situation room will be operated to take responsibility for traffic safety until examinees arrive at the test sites.
A total of 59 personnel from the Traffic Department and city cooperative organizations will guide examinees to the test sites and monitor the surroundings.
In particular, emergency transportation support will be provided in case examinees using the train station (1 vehicle) and intercity bus terminal (1 vehicle) face difficulties getting to the test sites.
The city will conduct a final inspection of the environment around the test sites on the 17th, one day before the exam, to ensure smooth progress.
A city official said, “We are making every effort, including cooperation with the education office, to ensure that examinees can take the CSAT in a safe environment,” and added, “Active cooperation from citizens is needed so that examinees can calmly take the exam in a comfortable atmosphere.”
