[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] KEC is showing strong performance. The news of a sharp increase in operating profit in the third quarter of this year appears to have influenced the stock price.
As of 1:53 PM on the 15th, KEC is trading at 3,285 KRW, up 21.89% compared to the previous trading day.
KEC announced in its quarterly report that it recorded consolidated sales of 70.9 billion KRW and operating profit of 9.3 billion KRW in the third quarter of this year. Sales increased by 30.9% year-on-year, and operating profit increased 52-fold. Net profit turned positive at 14.6 billion KRW.
For the cumulative third quarter, sales reached 196 billion KRW, operating profit 19.3 billion KRW, and net profit 30.2 billion KRW. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 36.3%, and operating and net profits turned positive.
In September this year, KEC began supplying a total of five new IGBT and small-signal products to a global electric vehicle manufacturer. KEC products are steadily being adopted in the electric vehicle market. IGBT combines the MOSFET structure, which enables fast switching speeds at low power, with the advantages of bipolar transistors capable of high-voltage output, allowing relatively fast switching even in high-voltage, high-current environments above 600V. Especially in electric vehicles, where energy efficiency is most important, IGBT plays a role in reducing power loss while enhancing performance.

The new IGBT products supplied by KEC are applied to the BDU (Battery Disconnect Unit), one of the core components of electric vehicle battery systems. The BDU is installed between the power source and internal circuits of the electric vehicle battery pack, performing the function of connecting or disconnecting power. It supports stable power supply from the battery and is an important component that protects the vehicle.
