Lee Jae-myung: "Hwacheondaeyu, Yoon Prosecution Investigation Insufficient... Party Must Demand Unconditional Special Prosecutor"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 15th, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, criticized the prosecution's investigation into Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party presidential candidate, regarding the Hwacheon Daeyu case as insufficient, emphasizing that "if the prosecution does not conduct a proper investigation, the truth must naturally be uncovered through a special prosecutor."
On the same day, during the morning meeting of the Democratic Party Central Election Committee, Lee said, "Hwacheon Daeyu was involved in loan corruption at Busan Savings Bank during the stage of raising illicit funds, and Yoon Seok-yeol, who was the lead prosecutor at the time, knew about this but either did not file charges or dismissed the case as no suspicion," adding, "This is the root and starting point of Hwacheon Daeyu."
He then pointed out, "Tracking the flow of money is the basic of basics and common sense in investigating corruption," and added, "It is unclear whether this is being properly investigated." He expressed, "The prosecution's investigation into the Yoon Seok-yeol family's corruption is too insufficient," and urged, "I call for a swift and strict investigation into Yoon Seok-yeol's dereliction of duty related to the initial funding process, as well as the breach of trust and abuse of power by People Power Party officials who blocked public development and forced private development."
Lee raised his voice, saying, "If the investigation is not properly conducted, all parties including Lee Jae-myung, Yoon Seok-yeol, Hana Bank, and People Power Party officials should be investigated strictly and as they are. If the prosecution does not conduct a proper investigation, the truth must naturally be uncovered through a special prosecutor."
He also stated that the special prosecutor is "not conditional."

He emphasized, "First, we give the prosecution a chance and wait for a thorough investigation, but we cannot wait forever. If it seems that they are not properly investigating after a certain period, the party should strongly and without exception implement a special prosecutor."
