Capacity-building training for about 120 environmental technicians conducted until the 26th
[Gwangju Buk-gu = Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Gwangju Buk-gu District Office (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 14th that it will conduct inspections of environmentally polluting emission sites to eradicate illegal activities such as unauthorized discharge of pollutants.
This inspection will be conducted jointly with private environmental organizations, targeting 15 sites including those that violated regulations or received complaints within the past two years, until the 16th.
The inspection will check ▲whether unauthorized (unreported) emission facilities are installed ▲whether emission and prevention facilities are properly operated ▲compliance with environmental laws, among other things.
During the crackdown period, strong measures such as legal action and closure orders will be taken against businesses that violate regulations.
In addition, Buk-gu will conduct capacity-building training for about 120 environmental technicians (environmental work practitioners) to raise awareness of environmental protection and support the improvement of autonomous environmental management capabilities.
This training, conducted together with the Gwangju Green Environment Support Center, will be held online until the 26th and will cover ▲guidance on the enactment and revision of environmental laws ▲cases of environmental law violations and measures for businesses ▲management of air and wastewater emission facilities ▲management of noise and vibration emission facilities.
Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, “We will continue to make greater efforts in environmental management by conducting continuous guidance and inspections of illegal activities and providing education for emission businesses.”
