The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced that the number of people who completed vaccination exceeded 40 million on this day. According to the provisional tally of vaccinated individuals as of 12:00, the number of people who completed vaccination was 40,080,591 (including those who received one dose of the Janssen vaccine), showing a vaccination completion rate of 78.1% of the total population. Previously, as of midnight on the same day, the number of people who completed vaccination was 39,997,410 (vaccination rate 77.9%).
This marks 260 days since vaccinations began on February 26, and 238 days since the second dose using the Pfizer vaccine was first administered on March 20.
The number of people who received the first dose was 41,951,125, representing 81.7% of the population having completed the first dose. This is an increase of 46,519 compared to 41,904,606 as of midnight on the same day.

The Vaccination Response Promotion Team expressed gratitude to all citizens who actively participated in vaccination, stating, "We ask those who have not yet been vaccinated to receive their vaccination as confirmed cases and severe patients are increasing mainly among the unvaccinated." They also noted, "Breakthrough infections are increasing mainly among the elderly," and requested "more interest and participation in additional vaccinations for those who were vaccinated in the first half of the year."
